Rector

Prof. (Dr.) C. Kalaiarasan, B.E., M. S., M. E. and Ph.D., is currently serving as the Rector of Guru Nanak University, Hyderabad. With an illustrious career spanning over 34 years, he has made impactful contributions in teaching, administration, research, and industry at reputed universities, autonomous engineering colleges, and organizations in India.

Dr. Kalaiarasan earned his B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from Bharathidasan University, an M.S. in Software Systems from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, an M.E. in Computer Science and Engineering, and a Ph.D. from Anna University, Chennai. He has held esteemed positions, including Associate Dean at Presidency University, Bangalore, Principal Dean at SNS Technical Institutions, and Dean of Engineering and Technology at Sapthagiri NPS University, to mention a few.

An accomplished researcher, Dr. Kalaiarasan has authored more than 100 SCI and Scopus research papers published in prestigious international and national journals. His research interests encompass Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Networks, Wireless Networking, Software Engineering, Internet of Things (IoT), TCP/IP, and Database Systems. Under his guidance, 11 scholars have completed their Ph.Ds., while others are currently pursuing their research. He has received research grants worth rupees 1 crore for projects focused on software development for security and mobile database systems, and has collaborated with leading industry giants such as IBM and TCS.

Dr. Kalaiarasan has established a state-of-the-art Innovation Lab in partnership with Texas Instrumentsand developed a Grid and Cloud Computing Lab, supported by industry funding. He has organised numerous seminars on the Internet of Things and emerging technologies and presented his research work internationally. Dr. Kalaiarasan has made substantial contributions to academic excellence and research through his active involvement in various academic and research bodies across the prestigious universities he has been associated with. His dedicated efforts have significantly enhanced institutional growth and the academic landscape.

His efforts in academic development have earned him the Distinguished Faculty in Engineering Award from the Venus International Foundation. He has also played a pivotal role in the NAAC and NBA accreditation processes at various institutions where he worked. Dr. Kalaiarasan has registered four patents, including one from Australia, showcasing his ingenuity and innovation.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Kalaiarasan is actively involved in professional societies, serving as a Member of IEEE, Life Member of ISTE, Systems Society of India, Advanced Computing and Communications Society, and the Computer Society of India (CSI). He also acts as an Advisor to the IEI Students Chapter.

With his remarkable expertise in cutting-edge technologies and his unwavering commitment to academic excellence, Dr. Kalaiarasan continues to be a guiding force in research and innovation.
