Controller of Examinations

Dr. Debasish Panda is a distinguished academician and senior education administrator with over three decades of experience in teaching, research, and university governance. He currently serves as the Controller of Examinations at Guru Nanak University, where he oversees the institution’s comprehensive examination framework, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and academic integrity in all evaluation-related processes.

Holding a Ph.D. in Marine Sciences and a Post-Doctorate in Environmental Sciences from Berhampur University and Jawaharlal Nehru University, respectively, Dr. Panda’s research has significantly contributed to the understanding of the texture, mineralogy, and chemical composition of Chilka Lake sediments. He also holds an M.Phil. in Marine Sciences, an M.Sc. in Oceanography, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (Honours). Demonstrating his multidisciplinary expertise, he pursued an LL.B., further strengthening his academic and administrative capabilities.

Throughout his career, Dr. Panda has held key leadership positions at prestigious institutions across India, including Registrar, Principal, Director, Professor, and Controller of Examinations at universities such as The Assam Kaziranga University, NM Institute of Engineering & Technology, and Swami Vivekananda Institute of Information Technology & Management. His expertise in legal, regulatory, and policy matters has made him a vital asset in the higher education sector.

As Controller of Examinations, Dr. Panda is responsible for planning and conducting semester-end examinations, central valuation, result publication, certificate issuance, and academic record verification. He also manages auditing processes, paper setting, revaluation frameworks, and liaises with internal and external stakeholders to maintain academic excellence.

His prior experience as Registrar has equipped him with extensive knowledge in university policy formulation, institutional planning, legal advisory, stakeholder coordination, HR administration, and statutory compliance. He has also served as the Ex-officio Secretary to key university bodies such as the Board of Governors, Finance Committee, and Academic Council, playing a crucial role in institutional governance and decision-making.
